I am so excited! After a 6-month-long break Lucy from Lucya bakes and myself are back with our monthly Food Exchange!
Our break had an incredibly adorable reason: the birth of Lucy’s son…sweet little Noah. Congratulations again, Lucy! Noah is such a beautiful little boy!
So, as you can see, there was a good excuse for our break 🙂 …and now we’re ready to continue baking. I really have to say I missed our little challenge because it is just so much fun and it makes me go out of my comfort zone and try out new cakes and bakes!
As Lucy and I are quite busy at the moment we chose cakes that are quick and easy to bake – we went for pound cakes. Lucy told me to make a Lemon Drizzle Cake – so here we go :)…
I quickly found a recipe that I liked. Normally I try using baking books I have at home but for some reason I couldn’t find a recipe for a Lemon Drizzle Cake that I liked so I had a look online and found this article in the Guardian: The best lemon and lime drizzle cake recipe.
It sounds promising, doesn’t it? 🙂
And, to be fair, the brave headline didn’t disappoint!
If you have a look at the recipe you will see that they also used limes and poppy seeds. Unfortunately I didn’t have these ingredients in my pantry so I just went without them and the cake still tasted delicious!
I can really recommend this recipe – I think the secret ingredient is the natural yoghurt.
The cake is super moist and fluffy and it was gone within one hour. Everyone loved it!
Thank you, Lucy for giving me the idea – and for continuing baking with me!
