Sweet things will be served – a Christmassy dessert

One of my favourite sweet things during the Christmas time is Lebkuchen or gingerbread. I always eat too much of it but I simply love it…and as Christmas time has officially started now I bought some Lebkuchen and used it to make a dessert for last weekend.

The recipe is not even a real recipe – it is more like a kit and you can use basically whatever you have at home. Have a look below to see which ingredients I used.

I decided to layer three main elements: fruit, cream/yoghurt and Lebkuchen.

For the fruit-layer I used defrosted raspberries but you could use cherries, mango or whatever you fancy.

For the Lebkuchen-layer I used…yeah, right: Lebkuchen :). You could however also use Christmas cookies, cake and so on…

And finally for the creamy part I whipped cream and mixed it with quark and yoghurt. You could only use yoghurt and quark to make it a bit lighter, or you could add a bit of Mascarpone or cream cheese to make it a bit sweeter and heavier. For the final touch of sweetness I added sugar and cinnamon to taste.

I layered the three parts in glasses, so that the last layer was cream. I chilled the dessert in the fridge for around 4 hours and took it out 20 minutes before being served. Before serving you can sprinkle golden stars on top 🙂

As you can see it is just an idea to make a delicious dessert that doesn’t need many ingredients and is easy to make but tastes delicious and surely will impress your guests.

If you have any ideas of other ingredients that could be used I would love to hear from you!

P.s.: I am sorry that lately I haven’t posted as many posts as I normally do – I really miss it. However, I promise to post more often after this weekend. The reason for having less time than usual is that I have my very first market stall tomorrow at Levy Market in Levenshulme, Manchester (www.levymarket.com). I will sell hand crafted and homemade goods, such as German Christmas cookies, cakes, knitted and felted baby items and small sewn gifts. If you have time and live in Manchester, it is really worth visiting this market!
Have a great weekend!
