As the last part of our trip to Lisbon I want to write a little bit about the hotel we stayed at, which we found online after a little research. It was important to us to choose a rather small-ish boutique hotel with a nice environment and a tasteful interior – and to make everything perfect a small pool. That way we hoped to be able to combine the typical city trip with a bit of relaxing pool-time.
I was amazed that we actually found a hotel that hit all these points and that was still in our budget – Hotel Casa do Barao.
So we booked it and eagerly awaited our arrival in Lisbon. (About our trip to Lisbon I already wrote here and here).
Have a look at the pictures to see how we experienced our stay at Casa do Barao – mini-spoiler ;): wow!
We arrived at Casa do Barao around midnight after having been picked up by a taxi. Despite the late hour we were warmly welcomed at the hotel by the owners, who showed us to our lovely room. We loved our room from the start and slept really well in the comfy bed!
Casa do Barao is located directly in a side street of Bairro Alto. It is in a beautiful house with two floors and maybe (I’m guessing) 10 rooms. Breakfast is included and served in a beautiful garden or in the conservatory.
Talking about breakfast: it is delicious! Homemade cakes and quiches that vary every day, Fresh fruit and juices, bread, yoghurt – whatever you wish for. Apart from that there is an honesty bar where you can help yourself throughout the day as well as free port wine, free cakes and cookies.
At the end of the garden there is a lovely pool with deck chairs where you can chill underneath the lemon trees. It is so idyllic and you completely forget that you’re in the middle of the city.
Our room was exactly as described: small but perfect, spotlessly clean with a lovely designed interior. Nothing else we could have wished for!
Very important as well: the owners of the hotel are super friendly without being intrusive. We felt so welcomed and happy at Casa do Barao that it was a pleasure coming back to the pool or the room after a morning of discovering the city.
For us it was the perfect hotel and I highly recommend it!
Thank you, Casa do Barao, for our great stay!!!
