Last weekend I made dinner for two hungry boys and so I decided to finally use my waffle iron after a looong time.
For the ingredients I just used what I found in my fridge and in my cupboard. That means the ingredients are very basic and mainly things you have at home anyway, which is important to me.
You find the recipes below, if you would like to make waffles as well 🙂 – and remember: you could always add things, like ham for the savoury waffles for example. Normally I also add a bit of sparkling water, that makes the waffles a bit more fluffy (but as I said, it was a rather spontaneous ideas and I just used what I had at home).
– 125g butter (soft)
– 2 eggs
– 400g flour
– 1 tsp baking powder
– 0.5l full fat milk or buttermilk
– 150g grated cheese
– garlic to taste
– salt and pepper
– fresh herbs (chopped)
I served the savoury waffles with creme fraiche and caramelized red onion chutney. You could also add ham to the waffles or serve it with various other dips…There are numerous ways of doing the waffles.
– 250g butter (soft)
– 250g sugar
– 0.5l milk or buttermilk
– 5 eggs
– 500g flour
– 1tsp baking powder
– a bit of vanilla extract
And again…it is just about mixing all the ingredients together, starting with the butter and the sugar. After that you add the flour, baking powder, the eggs and the milk bit by bit – and that’s it…once you have a smooth dough you can start baking the waffles :).
The boys really seemed to enjoy their waffles…they even had more of the sweet ones for breakfast :).
